Precision calculations of Bd,s → π, K decay form factors in soft-collinear effective theory

Bo-Yan Cui et al.

Summary: We improve the QCD calculations of B-d, B-s ->pi, K decay form factors at large hadronic recoil by implementing the next-to-leading-logarithmic resummation for the leading-power light-cone sum rules and by computing the non-vanishing spectator-quark mass correction. We also investigate the subleading-power contributions to these form factors and compute the twist-five and twist-six four-body higher-twist effects.

Rare b decays meet high-mass Drell-Yan

Admir Greljo et al.

Summary: Rare b hadron decays are studied as probes of new semileptonic four-fermion interactions, but these interactions also affect high-mass Drell-Yan tails. This work reexamines the first statement in light of this complementarity, exploring the space of short-distance new physics that may manifest in rare b decays. The latest b -> ql(+)l(-) measurements and high-mass Drell-Yan data are analyzed, and explicit models involving a Z' or leptoquark are constructed to explain tensions in b -> s mu(+)mu(-) while maintaining lepton flavor universality predictions.

B-anomalies in a twin Pati-Salam theory of flavour including the 2022 LHCb RK(*) analysis

Mario Fernandez Navarro et al.

Summary: We present a comprehensive phenomenological analysis of the twin Pati-Salam theory of flavour and focus on the parameter space relevant for interpreting the B-anomalies. The model offers a very predictive framework that connects the B-anomalies with fermion masses and mixing through the mixing of chiral quarks and leptons with vector-like fermions. We propose a simplified model with three vector-like fermion families, which successfully explains the charged fermion masses, mixings, and B-anomalies while remaining compatible with low-energy observables and makes predictions for future experiments.

Measurement of the B-s(0) = mu(+)mu(-) decay properties and search for the B-0 -> mu(+)mu(-) decay in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV

A. Tumasyan et al.

Summary: Measurements of the B0s→μ+μ- branching fraction and effective lifetime, as well as a search for the B0→μ+μ- decay, are presented for proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC. The analysis uses data from the CMS detector collected between 2016 and 2018, with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb-1. Results show that the branching fraction of B0s→μ+μ- decay and the effective lifetime of B0s meson are the most precise measurements to date. No evidence of B0→μ+μ- decay is found. All results are consistent with the standard model predictions and previous measurements.

Search for resonant and nonresonant production of pairs of dijet resonances in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

A. Tumasyan et al.

Summary: “A search for pairs of dijet resonances with the same mass is performed, and results for resonant and nonresonant production are presented. Model-independent limits on the production cross section of four-jet and dijet resonances are reported. The limits on resonant pair production of dijet resonances via high mass intermediate states are applied to a signal model of diquarks that decay into pairs of vector-like quarks, excluding diquark masses below 7.6 TeV. The nonresonant search excludes pair production of top squarks with masses between 0.50 TeV and 0.77 TeV, with an exception in a small interval between 0.52 and 0.58 TeV.”

Non-factorisable effects in the decays B0s → D+s π- and B0 → D+K- from LCSR

Summary: In this study, using the framework of light-cone sum rule (LCSR), we obtain new determinations of the non-factorisable soft-gluon contribution to certain B-meson decays, in order to explain the discrepancies between the recent predictions and experimental data. Our results show that the non-factorisable part of the amplitude is sizeable and positive, but with large systematic uncertainties. Furthermore, we also determine the factorisable amplitudes at LO-QCD for the first time and calculate the corresponding branching fractions.

Constraints on lepton universality violation from rare B decays

Marco Ciuchini et al.

Summary: The LHCb Collaboration has conducted a new study on B+ -> K+e+e- and B -> K*0e+e- (e = e, mu) decays, testing lepton universality with unprecedented accuracy using all available data. The CMS Collaboration has also improved the analysis of B(d;s) -> mu+mu- branching ratios. Both studies provide insights into new physics, but the global analysis of b -> se+e- transitions relies on assumptions about nonperturbative contributions. This work performs a global Bayesian analysis on (semi)leptonic rare B decays, considering the role of charming penguins that are difficult to evaluate. The data is consistent with the Standard Model, and stringent bounds on lepton universality violation are derived in I Delta BI = I Delta SI = 1 (semi)leptonic processes.

Summary: This article discusses a general two Higgs doublet model that can simultaneously explain the discrepancies in neutral B meson decay (b -> si9i9 distribution) and charged B meson decay (b -> c tau nu over bar) by introducing a charged Higgs. The model also includes two additional neutral scalars at the same mass scale and predicts distinctive signals at the LHC. Based on the recent same-sign top search by the ATLAS collaboration, the constraints on the scalar mass spectrum were found. Confronting the vector leptoquark hypothesis with new low- and high-energy data

Jason Aebischer et al.

Summary: In this study, we provide an updated phenomenological analysis of the simplified U-1-leptoquark model, which addresses the charged-current B-meson anomalies. Our analysis demonstrates that the low-energy data, which is dominated by the lepton flavor universality ratios R-D and R-D*, is in good agreement with the high-energy constraints obtained from pp → ττ-bar Drell-Yan data. We also find that the current data is consistent with a framework in which the leptoquark couples with similar strength to both left- and right-handed third-generation fermions, which is well-motivated from a model-building perspective. Furthermore, we predict that the high-energy implications of this setup will be experimentally tested at the 95% confidence level during the high-luminosity phase of the LHC.

Standard Model predictions for B → Kl +l- , B- → Kl1-l2+ and B → Kν(ν)over-bar over line using form factors from Nf=2+1+1 lattice QCD

Improved theory predictions and global analysis of exclusive b → sμ+μ- processes

Nico Gubernari et al.

Summary: In this paper, improved predictions of the exclusive rare semimuonic processes B -> K-(*)mu(+)mu(-) and B-s -> phi mu(+)mu(-) in the Standard Model theory are provided. The results are based on a novel parametrization of the non-local form factors, which respects a recently developed dispersive bound. The predictions are critically compared to those obtained using the framework of QCD factorization, and for the first time, parametric estimates of the systematic uncertainties due to non-local contributions are provided. A large tension is found for B -> K mu(+)mu(-) when comparing the predictions within the Standard Model to available experimental data. A simple model-independent analysis of potential effects beyond the Standard Model yields results compatible with other approaches, but with larger uncertainties for the B -> K*mu(+)mu(-) and B-s -> phi mu(+)mu(-) decays. This approach provides systematically improvable predictions and can be applied in further analyses beyond the Standard Model.
