Precise taper angle control by multilevel femtosecond laser processing

Sungkwon Shin et al.

Summary: This paper presents a femtosecond laser processing method to precisely control taper angles of micro-holes. The ablation depth depends on the ablation rate, number of repetitions for scanning, beam size, and spot overlap ratio, which in turn influence the taper angles. We developed a multilevel material processing method involving analytical models to achieve desired taper angles on 64FeNi alloy sheets.

Efficient Water-Assisted Glass Cutting with 355 nm Picosecond Laser Pulses

Edgaras Markauskas et al.

Summary: In this study, the cutting of borosilicate glass plates using a 355 nm wavelength picosecond laser was investigated in ambient air and water. The effects of different cutting parameters on cutting quality and characteristic strength of glass strips were examined. The results showed that cutting in water with low laser power resulted in the highest characteristic strength of the glass strips.

All laser-based fabrication of microchannel heat sink

Haoyu Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, an all-laser fabrication method is proposed to fabricate a microfluidic heat sink for silicon devices. The microchannels are engraved on a silicon wafer using lasers, and inlet/outlet holes are drilled on a quartz glass cover. The heat generated by the device is successfully removed by the fabricated microfluidic channel.

Precise glass microstructuring with laser induced backside wet etching using error-compensating scan path

Kui-Kam Kwon et al.

Summary: A new error-compensating scan path generation method was proposed for precise fabrication of glass microstructures, aiming to eliminate geometric errors in conventional paths and achieve accurate processing by adjusting parameters. Results showed that significant error reduction and improved processing efficiency could be achieved by adjusting the scan duty ratio and laser irradiation distribution, demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method for various glass microstructures.
