Dynamic investigation and alleviative measures for the skidding phenomenon of lubricated rolling bearing under light load

Yuqing Liu et al.

Summary: This study establishes a skidding dynamics model of lubricated rolling bearings, considering the interactions between the roller and races, as well as the cage. The effects of lubricant stiffness, film thickness, friction coefficient, passing flow resistances, and resistance torques on the dynamic characteristics of the bearing are analyzed. The study also explores methods to mitigate skidding, such as adjusting roller number, lubricant properties, and interference fit. The results show that skidding is induced by low tangential friction forces and high passing flow resistances, and can be alleviated by strengthening interactions at the roller-race interface or reducing running resistance.

Yuan-Zhuo Ma et al.

Summary: With the development of surrogate-assisted Reliability-Based Design Optimization (RBDO) methods, efficiency has been continuously improved. However, ensuring accuracy and feasibility in complex scenarios remains challenging. To balance efficiency, accuracy, and feasibility, single-loop and double-loop adaptive Kriging-based RBDO methods are proposed. The methods approximate probabilistic constraints using Kriging models and estimate failure probabilities. The proposed methods are demonstrated using four examples.

State variable and optimization potential-based multi-objective optimization method and application in compressor blade airfoil design

Honglin Li et al.

Summary: To improve optimization accuracy and efficiency, a multi-objective optimization (MOP) method based on state variable and optimization potential is introduced. State variable is used to record simulation failures caused by ill geometry and mismatched predetermined boundary condition, and is incorporated into the objective function through a weighted average method to improve surrogate model accuracy. Optimization potential, representing the difference between present performance and ideal optimal objective, is used to guide MOP and eliminates the need for manual weight vector selection. The combination of these two methods produces the best optimization results.
