NaSr2Nb5O15:Yb3+, Ho3+, Tm3+ transparent glass ceramics: Up-conversion optical thermometry and energy storage property

Junhao Xing et al.

Summary: In this study, rare earth tri-doped precursor glasses and transparent glass-ceramics were developed, and it was found that the up-conversion emission intensity of the latter was significantly enhanced. By controlling the doping ratios of the rare earth ions, multi-ratio optical temperature measurement was achieved, and high sensitivity results were obtained. Additionally, the obtained transparent glass-ceramics exhibited high energy density and power density under charging and discharge conditions, making them suitable for photoelectric conversion applications.

Grain-orientation-engineered multilayer NaSr2Nb5O15 ferroelectric ceramics via templated grain growth

Liangliang Liu et al.

Summary: A strategy was proposed to improve the texture degree and density of ceramics simultaneously by a grain-orientation-engineered technique. Template layers without mixed matrix were prepared by the brushing technique to solve the problem of directional arrangement of template particles. Dense textured NaSr2Nb5O15 ceramics with grain size gradient distribution were designed by the lamination of template and matrix layers. Moreover, an evaluation method of texture degree was developed, and ferroelastic and ferroelectric domains were observed simultaneously in the oriented grains.

Ferroelectric-Relaxor Crossover and Energy Storage Properties in Sr2NaNb5O15-Based Tungsten Bronze Ceramics

Lei Cao et al.

Summary: Filled and unfilled Sr2NaNb5O15-based tungsten ceramic materials with Gd doping were prepared, and their relaxor behaviors and energy storage performance were analyzed. The Sr1.82Gd0.12NaNb5O15 ceramic exhibited high energy storage density and efficiency, indicating its potential for practical applications. In addition, the thermal stability and fatigue resistance of the ceramic were evaluated, and the contribution of vacancies to the ceramic properties was discussed based on the theoretical framework of perovskite and tungsten bronze.

Effect of initial particle size on grain microstructure of textured ferroelectric ceramics: A phase-field method and brush technique

Liangliang Liu et al.

Summary: A phase-field model was used to simulate the evolution of grain microstructure in textured ceramics. Textured KSr2Nb5O15 (KSN) ceramics were prepared with acicular KSN particles as raw materials. The effects of initial particle length distribution and diameter on grain growth behavior and electrical properties were investigated. It was found that the influence of initial particle length distribution on grain growth rate mainly depended on its diameter. The use of coarse particles was beneficial in obtaining a microstructure with strongly anisotropic morphology and homogeneous grain size. The obtained KSN ceramics exhibited a high piezoelectric constant and Curie temperature, which were closely related to the grain microstructure.
