Cancer detection via primary care urgent referral and association with practice characteristics: a retrospective cross-sectional study in England from 2009/2010 to 2018/2019

Thomas Round et al.

Summary: The study found that over the past 10 years, 2WW referrals in England increased year on year, and the cancer detection rate also increased. Larger practices and younger GPs were associated with higher cancer detection rates, which attenuated over time. The recent association between increased practice deprivation and lower cancer detection is concerning and warrants further investigation.
