Exploiting SMART pass filter deactivation detection to minimize inappropriate subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapies: a real-world single-centre experience and management guide

Christopher Monkhouse et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the SMART Pass (TM) algorithm on inappropriate therapy (IT) in subcutaneous internal cardiac defibrillator (S-ICD) and to explore the association between SP deactivation and IT. The results showed that SP deactivation was significantly associated with an increased risk of IT, and changing the sensing vector was successful in preventing IT.

Subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillators: long-term results of the EFFORTLESS study

Pier D. Lambiase et al.

Summary: This study reports the 5-year outcomes of EFFORTLESS registry patients with early generation subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) devices. The study found that the spontaneous shock efficacy remained consistently high over the 5-year period and very few patients required replacement with a transvenous device. Additionally, early arrhythmic episodes did not predict later complications.

Clinical impact of ECG changes on oversensing of subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillators

Takahiro Hakamata et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the predictors for oversensing of S-ICD, especially the clinical impact of electrocardiographic (ECG) changes. The study found that unavoidable oversensing was caused by ECG changes, while oversensing events in patients without ECG changes can be managed.

The need for a subsequent transvenous system in patients implanted with subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator

Summary: The absence of pacing capabilities may reduce the appeal of S-ICD devices. This study investigated the need for a subsequent TV device in patients implanted with an S-ICD and its predictors.
