Understanding perceived climate risks to household water supply and their implications for adaptation: evidence from California

By analyzing personal experiences of Californian households with extreme weather events and their perceptions of future water supply reliability, the researchers found that reported impacts of climate change influence residents' concern differently depending on the type of event experienced. These findings emphasize the need for local managers to understand residents' perceptions and not assume that all extreme events will generate the same level of concern.
