Sustainability and Resilience in Migration Governance for a Post-pandemic World

Rebel spirits at sea: Disrupting EUrope's weaponizing of time in maritime migration governance

Summary: In August 2020, a motor yacht called Louise Michel, funded by Banksy, sailed in the Mediterranean Sea to search for migrant boats in distress. The intervention of Louise Michel and her activist crew aimed to disrupt Europe's strategy of slowing rescues and increasing interceptions of migrant boats. The article argues that their actions can be seen as an attempt to prevent the loss of migrant lives at sea and challenge the EUro-Libyan interception regime.

Justice in waiting: The harms and wrongs of temporary refugee protection
