Exciton Recovery Strategy in Hot Exciton Emitter toward High-Performance Non-Doped Deep-Blue and Host-Sensitized Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Baoxi Li et al.

Summary: The hot exciton mechanism based on high-lying reverse intersystem crossing process is advantageous in achieving high-performance deep-blue OLEDs. To further improve device performance, a deep-blue emitter based on exciton recovery strategy, named CAT, is successfully designed. Through various measurements, the multi-channeled pathways of exciton utilization and the proportion of singlet excitons are comprehensively demonstrated. By achieving high exciton utilization efficiency, CAT-based non-doped OLEDs exhibit excellent external quantum efficiency and sensitized blue fluorescent OLEDs also achieve remarkable performance. The operational lifetime of the multi-channel sensitized device is evaluated for the first time, highlighting the significance of the exciton recovery strategy.

Synthesis, characterization and structure-property study of new push-pull carbazole materials

A. Hfaiedh et al.

Summary: In this study, new organic materials with extended conjugated electron system and tunable intramolecular charge transfer properties were investigated. The structure of the material, referred to as M1, was synthesized and characterized using thermogravimetric, absorption, and emission spectroscopy. Several derivative compounds, denoted as CbzA1.4, with different electron acceptor groups and the same electron donor part were designed, and their photophysical properties were discussed. The impact of different electron-accepting strengths on the structure and optoelectronic properties of these materials was elucidated, and the experimental results were verified using quantum calculations. The intramolecular charge transfer character of the materials was confirmed through absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Additionally, N-donor substitution was employed to modulate the photophysical properties of the push-pull compounds and enhance the performance of organic-based photovoltaic devices.

A Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Green OLED with 4500 h Lifetime and 20% External Quantum Efficiency by Optimizing the Emission Zone using a Single-Emission Spectrum Technique

Rossa Mac Ciarnain et al.

Summary: Device optimization for LEDs focuses on maximizing the conversion of electrically injected charges into emitted light. The emission zone, believed to be crucial for device efficiency and lifetime, is difficult to measure due to its size below the optical diffraction limit. However, a method based on a single emission spectrum has been shown to enable precise measurements with sub-second time resolution, allowing for better understanding and control of the emission zone.

Identification of the Key Parameters for Horizontal Transition Dipole Orientation in Fluorescent and TADF Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Francisco Tenopala-Carmona et al.

Summary: Horizontal orientation of the emissive transition dipole moment (TDM) in OLEDs can significantly improve light outcoupling efficiency. Determining the drivers of horizontal orientation, such as emitter molecule aspect ratio and glass-transition temperature (T-g), is crucial. While molecular weight and linearity are key parameters for neat systems, host T-g and emitter length and MW become more relevant in host-guest systems with low and high molecular weight emitters, respectively. Future research should aim to establish a comprehensive model of molecular orientation in OLEDs.
