Comprehensive evaluation of novel fungicide benzovindiflupyr at the enantiomeric level: Bioactivity, toxicity, mechanism, and dissipation behavior

Xiaokang An et al.

Summary: To accurately assess the risk, it is necessary to obtain enantiomeric information of benzovindiflupyr. A method for enantioseparation was developed using supercritical fluid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. The study found that 1S,4R-(-)-benzovindiflupyr was more effective against six phytopathogens and more toxic to Daphnia magna.

Stereoselective analysis of chiral succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs) in foods of plant origin and animal origin by supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (SFC-MS/MS)

Shanshan Di et al.

Summary: The stereoisomers of chiral SDHIs were prepared and their absolute configuration was confirmed using Autoprep HPLC and chiral columns combined with theoretical calculation and experimental determination. SFC-MS/MS and four types of chiral columns were used to separate the chiral SDHIs, with simultaneous separation achieved in 6.5 minutes using the OD-3 column. The QuEChERS strategy was used to analyze the chiral SDHIs in plant and animal food samples, with average recoveries ranging from 71% to 119% and RSD <= 18%, and the LOQ was 1 ng/g. The matrix effects in plant and animal food samples ranged from 0.8 to 1.2, with weak matrix effects observed. This study provides important methods for monitoring the residues of chiral SDHI stereoisomers, which are crucial for stereoselective evaluations and improving risk assessments.

Comprehensive evaluation of chiral pydiflumetofen from the perspective of reducing environmental risks

Shanshan Di et al.

Summary: The spatial structures of chiral pesticide enantiomers can affect their activity, toxicity, and behavior. This study found that the chiral pesticide S-(+)-pydiflumetofen had much higher activity than the R-(-)-pydiflumetofen on various phytopathogens, and the coexistence of R-(-)-pydiflumetofen enhanced the toxicity of S-(+)-pydiflumetofen on zebrafish. Additionally, the degradation of R-(-)-pydiflumetofen in crops was opposite to that in soil. Therefore, developing enantiopure S-(+)-pydiflumetofen products may be an efficient and low-risk strategy.

Enantioselective bioaccumulation, oxidative stress, and thyroid disruption assessment of cis-metconazole enantiomers in zebrafish (Danio rerio)

Rujian He et al.

Summary: This study investigated the enantioselective toxicity, bioaccumulation, oxidative stress, and thyroid disruption of chiral metconazole pesticides using zebrafish as a model organism. The results showed that (1R, 5S)-metconazole exhibited stronger thyroid disruption ability and preferential bioaccumulation in zebrafish compared to (1S, 5R)-metconazole. Furthermore, molecular docking analysis supported the stronger interactions between (1R, 5S)-metconazole and thyroid hormone receptors. This study provides valuable information for the risk assessment of chiral pesticides on aquatic organisms.
