Effect of synthesis parameters on the structural, morphological characteristics, and photocatalytic activity of La2O3 nanoparticles

Summary: This study examines the impact of synthesis processes, such as sonication, sol-gel, and microwave, on the production of highly crystalline Lanthanum oxide nanoparticles (La2O3) using Lanthanum nitrate and Ammonium hydroxide as precursors. Various characterization techniques were used to determine the most effective method and its effects on the nanoparticle characteristics. Sonication was found to produce La2O3 NPs with smaller size, agglomerated nanorod structure, higher bandgap, and better electrical responsiveness compared to sol-gel and microwave techniques. Photocatalytic degradation tests showed high efficiency for both cationic and anionic dyes.

Green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles for photodegradation of malachite green and antibacterial properties under visible light

Summary: In this study, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) were successfully prepared by using Mangifera Indica aqueous extract as a reducing agent. The prepared CuONPs were characterized and found to have a particle size distribution ranging from 20 to 80 nm and high stability with a zeta potential value of -40.5 mV. The CuONPs showed excellent photocatalytic degradation efficiency of malachite green under visible illumination and effective antibacterial activities against E. coli and S. aureus strains. Therefore, CuONPs synthesized through the environmentally friendly approach can be a promising choice for applications in environmental remediation.

Facile synthesis of MgO nanoparticles for effective degradation of organic dyes

Influence of different alkaline actuators in synthesis of NiO NPs: A comparative green approach on photocatalytic and in vitro biological activity

Summary: Nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs) were synthesized using a sonochemical method and three different alkaline activators (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and ammonium hydroxide) as well as the extract of Moringa oleifera leaves. The physiochemical and optical characteristics of the synthesized nanoparticles were compared with those synthesized using the green method. The Moringa oleifera mediated NiO NPs showed the highest photocatalytic activity for safranin and methyl orange dye, as well as higher free radical scavenging efficiency in DPPH antioxidant activity. They also exhibited inhibitory effects on the growth of specific S. aureus and E. coli bacteria at low concentrations, indicating potential applications in biological and clinical settings.

Green synthesis of CdS Quantum dots for photocatalytic and anti-corrosive applications in aqueous media

Summary: Inorganic pollutants are the main cause of water pollution, posing threats to human health and the environment. Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) are highly efficient nanoparticles with enhanced photocatalytic activity. Heterogeneous photocatalysis using UV radiation on quantum dots is an attractive technique for treating polluted sewage. This study synthesized CdS QDs using a green method with Coccinia grandis (CG) and Punica granatum (PG) fruit sap as capping and stabilizing agents. The photocatalytic activity of CdS quantum dots was tested against anionic and cationic dyes, and the results showed that PG-capped CdS QDs exhibited the highest activity. Moreover, the prepared CdS QDs showed potential for water purification and corrosion resistance.

Summary: In this paper, the synthesis of uniform spherical-shaped zinc oxide nanoparticles via a green method and their photocatalytic activity were reported. The nanoparticles were synthesized using Rhododendron arboreum flower extract as a reducing and capping agent. Various spectroscopic techniques like UV-Vis and FT-IR were used to characterize the synthesized nanoparticles, which showed spherical structure. Elemental composition of oxygen and zinc was confirmed by energy-dispersive spectral analysis. These green synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles exhibited high degradation efficiency (99.18% for Malachite green dye and 99.272% for Fuchsin basic dye) and have the potential to be used as selective catalysts for the degradation of cationic dyes.

Preparation, Characterization of Green Synthesis CeO2 Nanoparticles and Their Photocatalytic Activity towards Malachite Green Dye

The photoactivity of the prepared ceria nanoparticles towards the degradation of malachite green dye under UV irradiation was investigated. It was found that the chemically synthesized ceria nanoparticles at a concentration of 3 g/L showed the highest photodegradation%, which can be attributed to their superior properties. Additionally, it was observed that (OH)-O-. and h(+) radicals played a main role in the photodegradation process compared to O-2(.-) radical.

Effect of particle size on phytochemical composition and antioxidant properties of Sargassum cristaefolium ethanol extract

Additionally, smaller particle sizes lead to increased concentration of phenolic compounds and stronger antioxidant activities, with the smallest particle size demonstrating the highest antioxidant activity. The optimal particle size for maximum phytochemical composition and antioxidant activity is determined to be 44 μm.

Additionally, the treated effluents exhibited decreased toxicity and the biosynthesized MgO-NPs showed antimicrobial activity against pathogenic microbes in a dose-dependent manner.
