Japanese evaluated nuclear data library version 5: JENDL-5

Osamu Iwamoto et al.

Summary: The fifth version of the Japanese Evaluated Nuclear Data Library, JENDL-5, was developed to meet the needs of various applications including nuclear reactors and accelerators. JENDL-5 consists of 11 sublibraries and includes updated neutron reaction data for a wide range of nuclei. It also includes the originally evaluated data of thermal scattering law and fission product yield, as well as light charged-particle and photon-induced reaction data for the first time.

Nuclear data uncertainty influence on the breeding ratio in sodium-cooled fast reactor systems

Alexander A. Ryzhkov et al.

Summary: Nuclear data are a significant uncertainty source in neutron transport simulations for reactor safety. Generation IV reactors propose providing reactivity margin below the effective delayed neutron fraction, making the breeding ratio a key factor. Therefore, assessing the accuracy of the breeding ratio is important. This study analyzes the breeding ratio uncertainties by conducting a sensitivity and uncertainty analysis of the MET1000 and MOX3600 models using SCALE. The main contributors to the breeding ratio uncertainties are 239Pu(n, gamma), 238U(n, gamma), and 238U(n, n'). The comparison of uncertainty sources between the models reveals that 16O predominantly increases the total uncertainty through its impact on the spectrum.

Nuclear data uncertainty propagation applied to the versatile test reactor conceptual design

Andy Rivas et al.

Summary: This study presents the uncertainty propagation method for nuclear data in the design process of the Versatile Test Reactor (VTR) and analyzes the impact of uncertainties on global parameters. The results show that the cross section of Fe-56 elastic scattering, Na-23 elastic scattering, and U-238 inelastic scattering are the major contributors to the uncertainties.

Uncertainty comparison between ENDF/B-VIII.0 and ENDF/B-VII.1 for fast reactor BN-600 using high-precision sampling method

Xubo Ma et al.

Summary: A method of using small samples to achieve high-precision related variable sequence sampling was proposed, and a fast reactor uncertainty analysis and sensitivity analysis program was developed for verification. The analysis showed significant differences in covariance matrix values between different libraries for certain nuclides, leading to varying levels of uncertainty for key parameters.

Nuclear data target accuracy requirements for advanced reactors: The ALFRED case

Donato M. Castelluccio et al.

Summary: Estimation of uncertainties is crucial for assessing safety margins in licensing approval of new nuclear reactors. Target accuracy requirements play a key role in disclosing new opportunities. By evaluating current accuracies on core integral parameters and solving an inverse uncertainty problem, corresponding target accuracies on nuclear data can be derived to ensure achievement of the former goals.
