Gait Retraining With Visual Biofeedback Reduces Rearfoot Pressure and Foot Pronation in Recreational Runners

Warlindo Carneiro da Silva Neto et al.

Summary: A gait retraining program with visual biofeedback is effective in reducing rearfoot plantar pressure and improving foot posture in recreational runners.

Effectiveness of Kinesio Taping and Exercises for Pronated Feet in Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders: A Cross Over Study

S. T. Parmar et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate whether kinesiotaping and exercise improve pronated feet in neurodevelopmental disordered children. The navicular drop test and Foot Posture Index were used to measure the effects of the treatments. The results showed that neither taping nor exercise as standalone interventions had significant effects, but there was still a small effect of the interventions on the patients.

Effects of Foot Strike Techniques on Running Biomechanics: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Yilin Xu et al.

Summary: The study found that compared to rearfoot strike (RFS), forefoot strike (FFS) results in lower impact force magnitude and loading rate, decreased ankle stiffness, reduced knee extension moment, eccentric power, negative work, and patellofemoral joint stress. However, FFS increases ankle plantarflexion moment, eccentric power, negative work, and axial contact force compared to RFS.

Effects of running-induced fatigue on plantar pressure distribution in runners with different strike types

Behnoush Hamzavi et al.

Summary: The study found that running-induced fatigue has different effects on plantar pressure distribution patterns in runners with different strike types, reflecting their different adaptation strategies, which could explain the existence of different injury patterns in runners with different strike types.

Relationship between foot muscle morphology and severity of pronated foot deformity and foot kinematics during gait: A preliminary study

Kazunori Okamura et al.

Summary: There were no significant differences in muscle thickness and dynamic navicular drop between the pronated foot group and the highly pronated foot group in this study. However, the thickness of the abductor hallucis and flexor hallucis brevis muscles were correlated with the dynamic navicular drop, but not with the severity of the pronated foot deformity.

The Impact of Foot Orthoses and Exercises on Pain and Navicular Drop for Adult Flatfoot: A Network Meta-Analysis

Ngoc-Tuyet-Trinh Hoang et al.

Summary: The study found that both exercise and foot orthoses can significantly reduce pain in adult flatfoot, but cannot realign foot posture. Exercise alone or combined with foot orthoses has a better effect on adult flatfoot, with active intervention more effective in reducing pain than passive intervention.
