Probing the quadrupole transition strength of 15C via deuteron inelastic scattering

Summary: In this study, deuteron elastic scattering and inelastic scattering reactions to the first excited state of 15C were investigated using a radioactive beam of 15C in inverse kinematics. The analysis of the experimental data and comparison with theoretical calculations provided insights into the structure of 15C.

The SpecMAT active target

Summary: SpecMAT is a magnetic active target used for transfer reaction studies with low-intensity radioactive ion beams at the ISOLDE facility. It combines a gas-filled time projection chamber for tracking charged particles and an array of auxiliary scintillation detectors for gamma-ray spectroscopy, optimized for operation in strong background magnetic fields. This article describes the design and characterization of SpecMAT, including its use with Am-241 alpha-decay and the correlation of detected gamma-rays with TPC events.

Tracking algorithms for TPCs using consensus-based robust estimators

Summary: In this study, a tracking algorithm based on consensus-robust estimators was implemented and tested using experimental data from different detectors. The algorithm showed improved inlier-outlier detection compared to the traditional RANSAC routine, with modifications in random sampling and clustering contributing to enhanced tracking efficiency. Overall, very good results were achieved, particularly in fitting short tracks within detection limits.
