Mindfulness Meditation Reduces Guilt and Prosocial Reparation

Andrew C. Hafenbrack et al.

Summary: This research investigates the influence of mindfulness meditation on guilt-driven tendency to repair harm caused to others. The results suggest that mindfulness meditation can weaken the relationship between guilt and reparative behaviors, reducing the willingness to engage in reparative actions in guilt-inducing situations. Furthermore, loving kindness meditation leads to more prosocial reparation compared to focused-breathing meditation, mediated by increased other-focus and feelings of love.

Mindfulness-based interventions: an overall review

Dexing Zhang et al.

Summary: Mindfulness-based interventions have been found effective for improving various biopsychosocial conditions in healthcare, schools, and workplace settings. However, there is still controversy and insufficient evidence on the effects of MBIs on certain conditions such as PTSD and ADHD, as well as uncertainties regarding the cost-effectiveness for many health conditions and populations. Further high-quality research is needed to clarify these issues and explore new areas for development.

Minding Your Own Business? Mindfulness Decreases Prosocial Behavior for People With Independent Self-Construals

Michael J. Poulin et al.

Summary: Research suggests that mindfulness has positive effects on individual well-being, but its impact on interpersonal relationships is less clear. The effects of mindfulness on prosocial behavior appear to vary based on individuals' self-construals, with independent and interdependent self-construals showing different responses to mindfulness induction.
