Temperature-Dependent Properties of BC-412 Polyvinyl Toluene Scintillator

Christian C. Cowles et al.

Summary: Polyvinyl toluene (PVT) with additives is a widely used organic plastic scintillator for large-volume gamma-ray detectors, but some of its basic optical properties are not fully explored. This study presents measurements of a commercial PVT-based scintillator (Saint-Gobain BC-412) in terms of attenuation length, index of refraction, and scintillation light output as a function of temperature, important for improving the performance modeling in systems using PVT-based scintillators in environments with wide temperature variations.

Dose rate effects in radiation-induced changes to phenyl-based polymeric scintillators

C. Papageorgakis et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of ionizing radiation on the signal produced by plastic scintillating rods manufactured by Eljen Technology company. The results provide insights into the factors affecting the light output of the rods and compare the stability and radiation resistance of different materials.
