Analysis of publications by authors of Ukrainian institutes in Scopus-delisted titles

Summary: In Ukraine, there are deficiencies in the evaluation system that allow academics to publish in delisted titles from Scopus and still use them for evaluation. This study examines the publishing activity of Ukrainian institutions in Scopus-delisted titles from 2011 to 2020 and finds that this practice is common among Ukrainian authors, particularly in the fields of economics, econometrics, and finance. The study also reveals that some Ukrainian institutions have significantly higher citation rates for papers in delisted titles compared to Scopus-indexed papers.

Predatory publishing in Scopus: Evidence on cross-country differences
