Summary: An air cushion vehicle with inflated side seals combines the advantages of conventional air cushion vehicles and surface effect ships. The elimination of vertical resonant oscillations is a key design concern. This study develops two mathematical models to investigate the stability and discusses the difficulties associated with scaling from model tests.
