Disentropy in astronomy

F. J. L. de Almeida et al.

Summary: Astronomers often encounter randomness in their work, such as from stars and radio telescopes. However, random distribution of stars in astronomical images can make it more challenging to identify important structures. In this study, researchers demonstrate three applications of disentropy of the autocorrelation in astronomy. They calculate the randomness of cosmic microwave background maps, develop an algorithm to remove parts of images with high randomness, and use the disentropy to analyze the randomness of a radio pulsar signal. The relative disentropy is also employed to determine the parameters of the probability density function of a pulsar's flux density.

Relations Between Observational Entropy and Other Measures Based on Tsallis-q Entropy

Xiang Zhou

Summary: This paper presents relations between observational entropy and other measures based on Tsallis-q entropy. For two-qubit pure states, relations between observational entropy and Tsallis-q entanglement through some monotone function are given and generalized to the two-qubit mixed state for some range of q. The relations between observational entropy and Tsallis-q entanglement of Assistance (TEoA) for some range of q in the case of mixed states are also studied. An estimate of the mean observational entropy of a pure state through the TEoA of a two-qubit mixed state is determined. The results of this paper reveal the relations between a non-entanglement measure (observational entropy) and an entanglement measure (Tsallis-q entanglement and TEoA).

Analytical solutions of cubic and quintic polynomials in micro and nanoelectronics using the Lambert-Tsallis Wq function

R. Ramos

Summary: This paper investigates the analytical solutions to some problems in nanoelectronics, including the pull in point of a microactuator, the space charge limited current in a nanowire, and the displacement of a plate in a nanoelectromechanical device caused by the Casimir force. These analytical solutions are simple and provide a better understanding of the role of physical parameters.

Disordered Random Walks

Mauricio P. Pato

Summary: By representing each step of a random walk as a component of a random vector, a random walk model is created using a method for generating disordered random matrices. The study demonstrates that the disordered random walk lies between a Gaussian random walk and a correlated random walk with a heavy-tailed distribution.
