Do moral disengagers experience guilt following workplace misconduct? Consequences for emotional exhaustion and task performance

Summary: This study examines the indirect effects of trait moral disengagement on post-misconduct guilt, and its consequences on employees' mental health and performance. It also explores the moderating role of post-misconduct state moral disengagement. The findings suggest that trait moral disengagement is positively linked to guilt and negatively related to executive function, and the presence of state moral disengagement after misconduct can influence its impact on guilt and emotional exhaustion.

Summary: This paper investigates the concept of behavioral integrity from three important foci in organizational settings: i.e., leader, organization, and follower. The effects of leader and organizational behavioral integrity on follower behavioral integrity and organizational citizenship behavior were examined via follower identification with leader and with organization. The findings provide partial support for the hypothesized model and highlight the importance of examining multiple foci of behavioral integrity as well as the role of follower identification as key mediating mechanisms.
