Consumer behavior in the circular economy: Developing a product-centric framework

Tetiana Shevchenko et al.

Summary: This study aims to clarify, frame, and measure consumer contributions to the implementation of the CE in regard to the 10R circular strategies. It develops an inclusive framework of consumer behaviors relating to CE perspectives in practice and proposes a product typology and a hierarchal pyramid for CE-related products. The resulting framework provides insights for policymakers and producers to manage consumer behavior towards more circular and sustainable consumption alternatives.

Analysing the alignment between the Green Lean and Circular strategies: towards a Circular Lean approach

Florencia Kalemkerian et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the implementation of the Green Lean strategy and its contribution to Circular Economy. The findings suggest that while Green Lean focuses on waste reduction, it lacks a value creation focus through waste. The majority of Green Lean implementations aim at minimizing waste rather than closing production cycles. Therefore, the current contribution of Green Lean to circular practices is limited. The paper suggests redirecting Green Lean towards a value creation focus to integrate the circular philosophy.

CE-oriented culture readiness: An assessment approach based on maturity models and fuzzy set theories

Ana Carolina Bertassini et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a fuzzy logic-based approach to assess the readiness of organizations to implement a Circular Economy (CE)-oriented culture. The study found that organizations focusing on radical innovations and balancing technical and soft aspects are more inclined towards a CE culture. Additionally, analyzing the presence of CE-oriented culture elements in the organization may help mitigate possible rebound effects from implementing CE practices.

Circular economy to ensure production operational sustainability: A green-lean approach

Ming K. Lim et al.

Summary: Integrating green-lean solutions with the concept of circular economy in production operations has been proposed to enhance environmental and resource performance. This study presents a method that incorporates green-lean principles and circular economy concepts in three phases, providing managers with opportunities for improvement and directions for enhancement. The effectiveness and practicality of this method are demonstrated through a case study in an automobile assembly workshop. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of green-lean and circular economy concepts and showcases the implementation of a circular economy in manufacturing enterprises.
