A Video Self-Modeling Intervention Using Virtual Reality Plus Physical Practice for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson Disease: Feasibility and Acceptability Study

Lina Goh et al.

Summary: Despite optimal medical and surgical intervention, freezing of gait is a common issue for people with Parkinson disease. This study aimed to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a personalized video self-modeling intervention delivered via a virtual reality head-mounted display (HMD) to reduce freezing of gait, and to investigate its potential effects on gait, mobility, and anxiety. Results showed that participants found the intervention interesting and enjoyable, indicating a potential for reducing anxiety in individuals with high levels of anxiety.
