Magneto-Thermomechanically Reprogrammable Mechanical Metamaterials

Bihui Zou et al.

Summary: Future active metamaterials for reconfigurable structural applications require fast, untethered, reversible, and reprogrammable (multimodal) transformability with shape locking. Magnetic control combined with the thermomechanical behavior of shape-memory polymers (SMPs) is demonstrated to enable untethered, reversible, low-powered reprogrammable deformations and shape locking without the need for new material synthesis or high-power energy.

Direct etching of nano/microscale patterns with both few-layer graphene and high-depth graphite structures by the raster STM electric lithography in the ambient conditions

Ye Yang et al.

Summary: The development of raster STM electric lithography enables the etching of nano/microscale patterns on graphene structures with controlled depths. This technique allows for ultraaccurate fabrication of nanoscale patterns without the need for resists or masks. The etched graphene structures exhibit smooth bottoms and controlled depths, and this technique shows promise in constructing graphene-based devices.

Stretching Graphene to 3.3% Strain Using Formvar-Reinforced Flexible Substrate

Y. Jin et al.

Summary: In this study, the use of formvar resins as a buffering layer has been shown to effectively enhance the tensile strain achieved in graphene. Compared to other polymers, formvar exhibits superior interface reinforcement, attributed to its liquid-solid phase transition and suitable Poisson's ratio.

Skyrmions-based logic gates in one single nanotrack completely reconstructed via chirality barrier

Dongxing Yu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a skyrmions-based single-nanotrack logic family that can be implemented and reconstructed by building and switching the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) chirality barrier on a racetrack memory. The complete Boolean logic gates are realized in one single nanotrack, providing candidates for next-generation skyrmions-based logic devices and logic-in-memory applications.

A reprogrammable mechanical metamaterial with stable memory

Tian Chen et al.

Summary: This study introduces a design for a tileable mechanical metamaterial with stable memory at the unit-cell level, allowing each binary element to be independently and reversibly switched between two stable states using magnetic actuation. This on-demand reprogrammability of mechanical properties enables a range of stiffness and strength adjustments, potentially leading to advanced forms of mechanical metamaterials.

Graphene transfer methods: A review

Sami Ullah et al.

Summary: Graphene, a material with unique properties, has wide applications in electronics, catalysis, energy, and bio-related fields. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a key method for growing high-quality graphene on non-technological substrates, with efforts towards efficient transfer of the material onto technologically relevant materials. Various graphene transfer techniques are reviewed in terms of contamination control, structural integrity preservation, scalability, cost, and time-effectiveness in this article. Discussions are made on transfer challenges, alternative options, and future developments in graphene technology.
