Effect of Applied Electrical Stimuli to Interdigitated Electrode Sensors While Detecting 17α-Ethinylestradiol in Water Samples

Paulo M. Zagalo et al.

Summary: The effect of impedance measurements of applied voltage on the detection of 17 alpha-ethinyl estradiol (EE2) in water samples using interdigitated electrodes (IDE) coated or not with thin films is described. The results showed that the PEI/PSS films are more suitable for the development of sensors and lower voltage values are best suited for performing measurements of this nature.

Sensors for diagnosis of prostate cancer: Looking beyond the prostate specific antigen

Corinne Dejous et al.

Summary: Prostate cancer is a common form of cancer in men, with high mortality rates due to late diagnosis. Conventional diagnostic methods, such as the PSA biomarker, have limitations, leading to a search for novel biomarkers. Advancement in sensor technologies using nanomaterials may offer a rapid and sensitive alternative for detection of non-PSA markers.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

PSA Density Help to Identify Patients With Elevated PSA Due to Prostate Cancer Rather Than Intraprostatic Inflammation: A Prospective Single Center Study

Salvatore M. Bruno et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of PSA density in distinguishing intraprostatic inflammation and clinically significant PCa. It found that PSA density is a strong predictor of csPCA but not associated with prostatic inflammation. In patients with PSA > 4 ng/ml, PSA density should be used to evaluate the risk of prostate cancer and the need for additional testing or prostate biopsy.

Glycosylated biomarker sensors: advancements in prostate cancer diagnosis

Siti Fatimah Abd Rahman et al.

Summary: The traditional PSA screening lacks precision, leading to unnecessary biopsies and treatment delays; Glycans have emerged as novel biomarkers for early detection of prostate cancer; Biosensing technologies offer versatile detection methods for various analytes, including glycosylated molecules.
