Identification of dynamic traffic crash risk for cross-area freeways based on statistical and machine learning methods

Yang Yang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the dynamic traffic safety of cross-area freeways using real-time traffic data. Machine learning and statistical models are applied to analyze and identify the crash precursors and characteristics of different types of freeway areas. The results show significant correlations between area types, traffic conditions, and dynamic traffic safety.

A Parallel FP-Growth Mining Algorithm with Load Balancing Constraints for Traffic Crash Data

Yang Yang et al.

Summary: Traffic safety is crucial for sustainable development, and freeway traffic crashes pose a serious threat to public safety. In this research, a multi-dimensional multi-level system was constructed using data from the Washington Department of Transportation to analyze and identify the causes of freeway traffic crashes. An optimized parallel FP-Growth algorithm was used for efficient association rule mining of the massive amount of crash data. The results demonstrate that this improved algorithm performs better in terms of speed and retains the advantages of the conventional association rule mining algorithm. Additionally, the proposed mining association rules model accurately and efficiently captures the occurrence mechanism of freeway traffic crashes with serious consequences.
