Strain and illumination triggered regulations of up-conversion luminescence in Er-doped Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-BaTiO3/Mica flexible multifunctional thin films

Yang Zhou et al.

Summary: Researchers have successfully designed and fabricated all-inorganic, highly-transparent, and flexible luminescent-ferroelectric thin films by doping Er3+ and applying external mechanical or light stimuli. The thin films exhibit strain-induced elevation of up-conversion photoluminescence intensity, suppression of photoluminescence concentration quenching, outstanding endurance, and convenient illumination-mediated photoluminescence quenching.

Effective Repeatable Mechanoluminescence in Heterostructured Li1-xNaxNbO3: Pr3+

Xiuxia Yang et al.

Summary: Mechanoluminescence (ML) is achieved through mechanical to optical energy conversion. The synthesis of Li0.5Na0.5NbO3: Pr3+ effectively couples trap structures and piezoelectric property to realize highly repeatable ML performance without traditional preirradiation process. Doping of Na+ ions in LiNbO3 optimizes trap distributions and concentrations, improving electron transfer efficiency to promote ML performances.

Optical absorption by design in a ferroelectric: co-doping in BaTiO3

Shenglan Hao et al.

Summary: The optical absorption behavior of BaTiO3 co-doped with trivalent and pentavalent transition metal ions was investigated. It was found that the tetragonality and polar coherence length decrease after co-doping, affecting the ferroelectric properties. Specifically, the (Co3+, Nb5+) co-doped samples showed a decrease in absorption onset to 1.5 eV and higher polarization compared to other co-doped ions.

Fluorescence-based quantitative characterization of structural phase transitions in Li+/Er3+:BaTiO3 ferroelectric ceramics

Jiaming Li et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method to quantitatively characterize the phase transition processes of ferroelectric materials using fluorescence wavelength shift, demonstrating exact consistency between changes in fluorescence peak positions and structural phase transitions. The contactless, non-destructive fluorescence method provides localized quantitative analysis for phase transition processes in ferroelectric materials. The method based on fluorescence peak wavelength dependence on crystal environment may potentially be applied to characterize phase transitions in other ferroelectric materials.
