The study finds that the economic downturn caused by the pandemic has had a severe impact on the industry, which is known for its labor-intensive nature. The decline in income and wage is estimated to range from 3.12% to 6.39%, depending on whether individuals are still earning income from the industry. For those who have completely lost their livelihood, the impact on income is estimated to be a fall of 58.69% and on wage is estimated to be a decline of 58.59%. The paper also discusses the recommendations made by UNWTO to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the industry and maps the Indian government's policy measures to those recommendations.

Summary: This paper measures the tourism carbon efficiency (TCE) in China by considering energy consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and explores the determinants of TCE with spatial spillover effects. The study applies a bootstrap slacks-based measure (SBM) model to assess TCE in 30 provincial-level administrative regions from 2008 to 2019. The results show that regional differences and spatial spillover effects impact China's TCE. Factors such as technology innovation, urbanization rate, and government support positively affect TCE, while economic growth has a negative impact. Educational attainment, green infrastructure, and government support have a negative spatial spillover effect on TCE, and transportation infrastructure has a negative total effect.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of smart city pilot policy (SCP) on firms' total factor productivity (TFP) and finds that SCP can significantly increase firms' TFP. It also shows that SCP can strengthen the monopoly position of monopolistic firms and state-owned enterprises, alleviate the development imbalance of TFP between coastal and non-coastal firms, and improve TFP of heavy polluting enterprises. Furthermore, the study identifies increasing investment in technological innovation, talent agglomeration, attracting financing, improving resource allocation efficiency, and digital transformation as important ways for SCP to enhance firms' TFP.

Based on statistical data from 30 provinces in China from 2000 to 2018, this paper systematically verifies the influence of the relationship between financial development, technological innovation, and their interaction term on energy security. The findings highlight that China's energy security is enhanced by financial development and technological innovation, with financial development improving energy security through technological innovation. In addition, there is a nonlinear threshold effect between financial development and energy security due to differences in technological innovation between regions.

A dynamic data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach was used to assess the performance of cultural tourism in various Asian tourist destinations. Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore were identified as the top performers. The results obtained with the dynamic DEA model differed significantly from those obtained with the static DEA model, as the dynamic framework allows for resource reallocation over time. Tourists highly value the integration and utilization of resources at cultural tourism destinations, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about the value of cultural resources for fostering synergies between tourism and culture.
