Summary: Arab Muslims have been engaging in solidarity aid work in Bosnia-Herzegovina for decades, disrupting racial and civilizational hierarchies in international relief efforts and demonstrating the utility of a broader anthropological understanding of universalism. Ethnographic attention to the material conditions of these aid workers reveals their lack of privileges compared to the white, Western protagonists typically seen in aid ethnographies.

Islamic psychology: Emergence and current challenges

Summary: Traditionally, mainstream psychology viewed religion negatively, but there is now a growing recognition of the significant role religion plays in improving physical and mental health. Islamic psychology, which recognizes the spiritual nature of human beings and their connection to God, has attracted attention from Western psychologists. However, despite over 40 years of research, progress in the development of this paradigm has been slow, and there are challenges that need to be addressed using research paradigms from Western social and behavioral sciences.
