Ellagic Acid-Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complex-Loaded Thiol-Ene Hydrogel with Antioxidant, Antibacterial, and Anti-inflammatory Properties for Wound Healing

Tingyue Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrogel dressings have great potential for clinical trauma due to their swelling, water retention, gas permeability, and good biocompatibility. However, developing multifunctional wound dressings is a challenge. In this study, a thiol-ene photoclickable PEG hydrogel was utilized, and a hydrophobic drug called ellagic acid (EA) was included to form a hydrogel crosslinker. The hydrogel exhibited excellent cytocompatibility, antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory activities, making it a promising candidate for the treatment of infected wounds.
