Evaluating nnU-Net for early ischemic change segmentation on non-contrast computed tomography in patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke

Houssam El-Hariri et al.

Summary: The study used a 3D CNN based on nnU-Net to segment early ischemic changes (EIC) in NCCT of patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS). Results showed that the model performed well in terms of spatial and lesion volume agreement, suggesting it may be useful as a decision-aid for clinicians.

A Survey on Multi-Task Learning

Yu Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper provides a survey of Multi-Task Learning (MTL) from the perspective of algorithmic modeling, applications, and theoretical analyses. It discusses different MTL algorithms and their characteristics, as well as the combination of MTL with other learning paradigms. The paper also reviews MTL models for large-scale tasks or high-dimensional data, as well as dimensionality reduction and feature hashing. Real-world applications of MTL are examined, and theoretical analyses and future directions are discussed.

A ConvNet for the 2020s

Zhuang Liu et al.

Summary: The development of visual recognition has gone through stages from ConvNets to ViTs and then to hybrid approaches. In this work, the design of a pure ConvNet is reexamined and several key components are discovered, resulting in the construction of the ConvNeXt model series. These models compete with Transformers in terms of accuracy and performance while maintaining the simplicity and efficiency of ConvNets.

Multi-task learning for segmentation and classification of tumors in 3D automated breast ultrasound images☆

Yue Zhou et al.

Summary: A novel multi-task learning framework for joint segmentation and classification of tumors in 3D automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) images is proposed in this paper, consisting of an encoder-decoder network for segmentation and a light-weight multi-scale network for classification. The framework uses an iterative training strategy to refine feature maps with the help of probability maps and experiments show that it outperforms single-task learning counterparts.

EIS-Net: Segmenting early infarct and scoring ASPECTS simultaneously on non-contrast CT of patients with acute ischemic stroke

Hulin Kuang et al.

Summary: A novel multi-task learning approach, EIS-Net, is proposed for segmenting early infarct (EI) and scoring Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) simultaneously on baseline non-contrast CT scans of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. EIS-Net demonstrates high accuracy and state-of-the-art performance in EI segmentation and ASPECTS scoring tasks.
