Protective effects of leonurine hydrochloride on pyroptosis in premature ovarian insufficiency via regulating NLRP3/GSDMD pathway

Yan-Nan Chi et al.

Summary: This study found that leonurine hydrochloride extracted from Leonurus japonicus Houttuyn can protect fertility and maintain hormone levels and follicle number in mice with premature ovarian insufficiency by inhibiting the NLRP3/GSDMD signaling pathway. Leonurine hydrochloride also inhibits NLRP3 activation, resulting in reduced ovarian damage and levels of IL-18 in the serum.

Research on the effect of Dipsaci Radix before and after salt-processed on kidney yang deficiency syndrome rats and the preliminary mechanism study through the BMP-Smad signaling pathway

Weifeng Du et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the effects of Dipsaci Radix (DR) on rats with kidney yang deficiency syndrome (KYDS) before and after salt-processed, and explore the mechanism of DR through the BMP-Smad signaling pathway. The results showed that both crude DR (CDR) and salt-processed DR (SDR) had therapeutic effects on KYDS, with SDR being more effective. This study provided a scientific basis for the processing mechanism of salt-processed DR.

Effects of postnatal exposure to cadmium on male sexual incentive motivation and copulatory behavior: Estrogen and androgen receptors expression in adult brain rat

Marcela Arteaga-Silva et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of early exposure to cadmium on sexual incentive motivation (SIM) and male sexual behavior (MSB) in adult rats, as well as the immunoreactivity of estrogen and androgen receptors in relevant brain areas. The results showed that cadmium exposure decreased SIM and MSB, accompanied by low testosterone levels and reduced immunoreactivity of estrogen and androgen receptors.

Oral thymoquinone modulates cyclophosphamide-induced testicular toxicity in adolescent Wistar rats

Misturah Y. Adana et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of thymoquinone on the testes after exposure to cyclophosphamide. The results showed that cyclophosphamide exposure caused functional and structural changes in the testes, but thymoquinone intervention was able to reverse these effects, suggesting a potential protective role.

22-kD growth hormone-induced nuclear GHR/STAT5/CyclinD1 signaling pathway plays an important role in promoting mesenchymal stem cell proliferation

Wei Zheng et al.

Summary: The study explored the cellular behavior and properties of growth hormone (GH) and its receptor in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), revealing that nuclear-targeted GHR drives cell proliferation through a specific signaling pathway. This research has laid an important foundation for further investigation into the regulatory effects of GH on MSCs.

Androgens and spermatogenesis

Sophie Christin-Maitre et al.

Summary: Male infertility contributes to 50% of all cases of infertility, primarily due to low quality and quantity of sperm. Androgens play a significant role in human spermatogenesis, and abnormal androgen production and/or androgen receptor signaling impair sperm production.

Hidenobu Miyaso et al.

Summary: The male reproductive system includes the testes, ducts, accessory sex glands, and penis. Active research has identified various biological factors that regulate germ cell development and function, including genetics, epigenetics, and the neuroendocrine-immune system. This article reviews these factors and their impact on the microenvironment of germ cells, with a focus on the immunoendocrine environment.

Activation of the EGFR/MAPK pathway drives transdifferentiation of quiescent niche cells to stem cells in the Drosophila testis niche

Leah J. Greenspan et al.

Summary: Adult stem cells in the Drosophila testis are regulated by signals from somatic hub cells, including the Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway. After the removal of somatic cyst stem cells (CySCs), the hub cells proliferate and undergo transdifferentiation into new CySCs. EGFR signaling is normally inhibited in hub cells but is activated after CySC ablation to drive stem cell regeneration.
