Crystallization Regulation Engineering in the Carbon Nitride Nanoflower for Strong and Stable Electrochemiluminescence

Bolin Zhao et al.

Summary: A novel approach was developed to improve the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) performance of C3N4 material by regulating its crystallinity. The high-crystalline C3N4 nanoflower exhibited strong ECL signal and excellent long-term stability compared to low-crystalline C3N4 when K2S2O8 was used as a co-reactant. The enhanced ECL signal was attributed to the inhibition of K2S2O8 catalytic reduction and enhancement of C3N4 reduction, while the improved stability was mainly due to the long-range ordered atomic arrangements in the high-crystalline C3N4 nanoflower. The high-crystalline C3N4 nanoflower/K2S2O8 system was successfully employed as a Cu2+ detection sensing platform with high sensitivity, excellent stability, and good selectivity.

Regulation of Target-activated CRISPR/Cas12a on Surface Binding of Polymer Dots for Sensitive Electrochemiluminescence DNA Analysis

Lele Li et al.

Summary: We developed a sensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensing strategy for the detection of activated CRISPR/Cas12a using polymer dots (Pdots) as emitters. The strategy involves the regulation of binding between Pdots-DNA and a biosensor, and the enhancement of ECL emission through the local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect of electrochemically deposited Au nanoparticles (depAuNPs). The integration of target DNA-triggered catalysis and the LSPR effect greatly improves the sensitivity of ECL analysis.

Iron Single-Atom Catalyst-Enabled Peroxydisulfate Activation Enhances Cathodic Electrochemiluminescence of Tris(bipyridine)ruthenium(II)

Zhen Luo et al.

Summary: The Ru(bpy)(3)(2+)-tripropylamine ECL system is widely used in commercial bioanalysis, but the presence of amines in the biological environment causes unwanted anodic interference signals. To overcome this, a cathodic Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) ECL system is proposed, which utilizes the iron-nitrogen-carbon catalyst to activate the ECL signal. This innovative system shows great potential for practical applications, demonstrated by the successful development of an ECL biosensor for detecting alkaline phosphatase activity.

Dual-Site Activation Coupling with a Schottky Junction Boosts the Electrochemiluminescence of Carbon Nitride

Zhichao Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, Au nanoparticles and single atoms (AuSA+NP) loaded on carbon nitride (CN) act as dual active sites, significantly accelerating charge transfer and activating peroxydisulfate. The Schottky junctions between Au NPs and CN effectively trap over-injected electrons to prevent electrode passivation. As a result, the porous CN modified with AuSA+NP exhibits an enhanced and stable electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emission. Furthermore, the designed ECL biosensor based on AuSA+NP-CN shows remarkable performance in detecting organophosphorus pesticides. This innovative strategy has the potential to provide strong and stable ECL emission for practical applications.
