Chiara Stassi et al.

Summary: A case of a 52-year-old man with a single, penetrating stab wound to the neck, reported as self-inflicted, is presented for forensic evaluation to determine the nature of the wound (self- or hetero-inflicted). Sharp force fatalities: Differentiating homicide from suicide through a retrospective review (2012-2019) of autopsy findings in Lisbon (Portugal)

Nuno Lupi Manso et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify predictors of manner of death in sharp force fatalities and described the characteristics of homicides and suicides due to sharp force injury. The findings showed that additional traumatic lesions and absence of lethal neck and upper limb wounds were independent autopsy predictors of a homicidal death, although no single feature is infallible in establishing the manner of death.
