Tuning the band gap of the InSe monolayer by substitutional doping

Chuanchuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Substitutional doping of Te atoms for Se atoms in InSe monolayers can effectively adjust the electronic structure, leading to a transition from indirect to direct band gap. The band gap reaches a maximum of 1.64 eV at a Te concentration of 33.3% before gradually decreasing to 1.08 eV.

Critical Thermodynamic Conditions for the Formation of p-Type (β-Ga2O3 with Cu Doping

Chuanyu Zhang et al.

Summary: The study discovered that Cu atoms substituting Ga atoms in beta-Ga2O3 result in p-type conductivity. Formation energies of various doped structures were derived based on first principles calculation with dipole correction, revealing temperature and oxygen partial pressure dependence. The critical thermodynamic condition for forming the substitutional structure was also obtained.

Comparative study of the effect of the Hubbard coefficient U on the properties of TiO2 and ZnO

A. C. Rossi Fernandez et al.

Summary: In this study, first-principles calculations combined with Hubbard U correction were used to investigate the electronic, structural, and optical properties of TiO2 and ZnO. Results show that as Ud increases, the band gap and lattice parameters of TiO2 increase, while the band gap of ZnO increases but the cell parameters decrease. Bader's charge analysis was used to reveal the nature of chemical bonding, and the optical properties calculated using Ud showed excellent agreement with experimental results.
