Diversity of filamentous fungi communities in the soils of agroecological crop polycultures and the Atlantic Rain Forest

Amanda Lucia Alves et al.

Summary: This study compared filamentous fungi communities from different land uses in Northeastern Brazil and found that despite the differences in plant diversity, the mycobiota of both systems consisted of generalist fungi that act on the decomposition of organic matter. The similar physicochemical properties of the systems suggest the importance of crop diversification in agroecological soil management.

Fusarium diversity associated with diseased cereals in China, with an updated phylogenomic assessment of the genus

S. L. Han et al.

Summary: This study used a citizen science initiative to investigate diseased cereal crops in China and identified 43 different species of Fusarium, including eight novel species. It also confirmed 18 species as pathogens of maize stalk rot and supported the narrow generic concept of Fusarium through phylogenetic analysis. Overall, this study provides important insights into the diversity and distribution of cereal-associated Fusarium species.

Identification and pathogenicity of Fusarium spp. associated with the sheath rot disease of rice (Oryza sativa) in Indonesia

Syafiqa Pramunadipta et al.

Summary: This study identified Fusarium spp. as major pathogens causing sheath rot disease in Indonesia, found in 13 provinces. Various species within the FIESC and FFSC were associated with the disease, with some FFSC species having diagnostic traits. This is the first comprehensive study to confirm the Fusarium spp. responsible for sheath rot disease through field survey, fungal isolation, pathogenicity test, molecular identification, and morphological characterization in Indonesia.

Fusarium species associated with leaf spots of mango in China

Zhenni Guo et al.

Summary: The study identified seven Fusarium species associated with leaf spots on mango in China, including some reported for the first time globally. These isolates were found to be capable of causing leaf spot symptoms on artificially wounded leaves. This research contributes to the understanding of Fusarium species as potential causal agents of mango leaf spots.

Three novel Ambrosia Fusarium Clade species producing multiseptate dolphin-shaped conidia, and an augmented description of Fusarium kuroshium

Takayuki Aoki et al.

Summary: The study describes three new species within the Ambrosia Fusarium Clade (AFC) and provides an augmented description for one species, highlighting their genetic and morphological distinctions. It also discusses the potential for symbiont switching among different species within the group due to the promiscuous nature of some Euwallacea species and overlapping geographic ranges.
