Control of active lower limb prosthesis using human-in-the-loop scheme

Ivan Hernandez et al.

Summary: In many cases, robots need to interact directly with humans in order to design control systems that consider the human-machine relationship, especially when humans share control with robots. To validate control schemes, it is necessary to test them in an environment where human-machine interaction exists, which may be potentially dangerous for humans. This study presents a human model for testing controllers and proposes a scheme for human-in-the-loop under shared control. The model and scheme were tested on a lower limb prosthesis that naturally involves human-machine interaction, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the human model in emulating human interaction.

Applying incremental Deep Neural Networks-based posture recognition model for ergonomics risk assessment in construction

Junqi Zhao et al.

Summary: Monitoring and assessing awkward postures is a proactive approach for Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) prevention in construction. Machine Learning models have shown promising results in recognizing workers' postures from Wearable Sensors. Through the research on the incremental Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (CLN) model, adaptive posture recognition can potentially balance performance of adaptation and controlling forgetting, supporting effective MSDs risk assessment alongside ergonomics rules.
