Behavioural intention to use a contact tracing application: The case of StopCovid in France

Niousha Shahidi et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the intention of French citizens to download and use the COVID-19 tracing app. The research utilized the technology acceptance model, goal-directed behaviour theory, and privacy theory to explain the intention to use the app. The methodology involved an online survey and structural equation modeling. The results indicate that anticipated emotions, perceived usefulness, privacy concerns, and perceived permission sensitivity significantly contribute to the intention to adopt the StopCovid app, while subjective norms and goal desire have no direct impact. These findings have theoretical and practical implications for enhancing the design and safety of the app.

The privacy and control paradoxes in the context of smartphone apps

Vanessa Ayres-Pereira et al.

Summary: This research examines the influence of various factors on a user's intention to install a smartphone app, such as e-privacy concerns and control over data access permissions. The results suggest that the type of app plays a crucial role in determining the perceived benefit and level of e-privacy concerns. The intention to install an app is more strongly associated with perceived app importance, particularly when users have explicit control over specific data access permissions.
