Fully-exposed Pt-Fe cluster for efficient preferential oxidation of CO towards hydrogen purification

Zhimin Jia et al.

Summary: This study reports a novel bimetallic Pt-Fe catalyst with ultralow metal loading, which shows excellent catalytic activity and selectivity in the preferential oxidation of CO (PROX) in hydrogen. The fully-exposed Pt-Fe clusters on the defective graphene surface can achieve complete elimination of CO and maintain good stability for a long period. The construction of fully-exposed bimetallic Pt-Fe catalysts with maximized atomic efficiency and abundant interfacial sites facilitates oxygen activation and CO oxidation, leading to excellent reactivity in practical applications.

One dimensional Pt/CeO2-NR catalysts for hydrogen production by steam reforming of methanol: Effect of Pt precursor

Arturo Claudio-Piedras et al.

Summary: The study synthesized Pt nanocatalysts supported on CeO2-NR for hydrogen production via the steam reforming of methanol. The choice of Pt precursor had an impact on the catalyst's performance, with Pt/CeO2-NR(Nit) showing the best methanol conversion rates. The stability of the catalyst during the reaction was confirmed by real-time monitoring analysis using Mass Spectroscopy.

Flower-like Pt/Fe2O3-CeO2 Catalysts for Highly Efficient Low-Temperature Catalytic Oxidation of Toluene

Yuanbo Zhou et al.

Summary: A series of porous Pt/FexCey microflowers with well-defined mesoporous structure were synthesized through a solvothermal method, promoting gas distribution and even dispersion of active species. Among the samples, 1 wt % Pt/Fe3Ce1 showed the best catalytic performance, with the catalyst composition able to be regulated for improved catalytic efficiency. The synergistic effect of Fe2O3 and CeO2, along with the addition of Pt, enhanced the mobility of lattice oxygen and facilitated toluene removal. The Mars-van Krevelen model was used to explain the mechanism of toluene oxidation over these Fe-based catalysts.

Widening Temperature Window for CO Preferential Oxidation in H2 by Ir Nanoparticles Interaction with Framework Fe of Hexaaluminate

Bilv Hong et al.

Summary: It is crucial to develop an efficient noble-metal-based catalyst with wide temperature window and stability for CO preferential oxidation in H-2. A catalyst of Ir nanoparticles supported by Fe-substituted hexaaluminate has been synthesized, showing total CO conversion in an unprecedented temperature range and good resistance to CO2 and H2O. Detailed characterizations and DFT calculations reveal the interaction between Ir species and Fe cations in promoting low-temperature CO oxidation and maintaining CO preferential oxidation at high temperatures.

In Situ Raman Observation of Oxygen Activation and Reaction at Platinum-Ceria Interfaces during CO Oxidation

Di-Ye Wei et al.

Summary: The study investigates the activation and reaction of active oxygen species during CO oxidation at platinum-ceria interfaces using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, revealing the evolution of different oxygen species and reaction pathways. Oxygen efficiently dissociates into chemisorbed O on Pt and lattice Ce-O species simultaneously at interfacial Ce3+ defect sites under CO oxidation, leading to a much higher activity at platinum-ceria interfaces compared to that at Pt alone.
