Emotion regulation and the salience network: a hypothetical integrative model of fibromyalgia

Ana Margarida Pinto et al.

Summary: This article presents a new model called FITSS (Fibromyalgia: Imbalance of Threat and Soothing Systems), which proposes that an imbalance in emotion regulation, specifically an overactive 'threat' system and underactive 'soothing' system, may contribute to the development of fibromyalgia. This model provides a new perspective for future research and may stimulate the discovery of novel therapeutic interventions.

Emotional climate in residential care scale for youth: Psychometric properties and measurement invariance

Laura Santos et al.

Summary: Research has developed a self-report measure, called the Emotional Climate in Residential Care Scale for youth (ECRC-Y), to assess the emotional climate of residential care homes as perceived by youth who live there. The study found that social and contextual factors, such as climate in Residential Youth Care (RYC), play a crucial role in the well-being of youth who have experienced maltreatment. The ECRC-Y demonstrated good internal consistency and construct validity, making it a useful tool for research and practice purposes.

Response rates of online surveys in published research: A meta-analysis

Meng-Jia Wu et al.

Summary: The study finds that the number of online surveys in published research has been steadily increasing over the years, with an average response rate of 44.1%. The results indicate that sending surveys to a clearly defined and refined population positively impacts the response rate. Additionally, using other types of surveys in conjunction with online surveys, pre-contacting potential participants, and using phone calls as reminders can also yield a higher response rate.
