Structure of PAP-IgM FcK fusion protein with J-chain expressed in transgenic plant

Yangjoo Kang et al.

Summary: Transgenic plants expressing PAP-IgM FcK and J-chain proteins were generated by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. The expression of the transgenes and fusion protein was confirmed through PCR, RT-PCR, Western blot, and size exclusion chromatography. These results demonstrate the feasibility of producing PAP-IgM FcK with J-chain in a plant expression system.

Single-cell RNA-sequencing of Nicotiana attenuata corolla cells reveals the biosynthetic pathway of a floral scent

Moonyoung Kang et al.

Summary: This study used scRNA-Seq to reveal the complete biosynthetic pathway of benzylacetone (BA) in flowers. The biosynthetic pathway of BA was determined by analyzing gene co-expression and silencing candidate genes. The results demonstrate that scRNA-Seq provides a high-resolution gene expression atlas that reveals the molecular features underlying cell-type-specific metabolism in plants.

Cell biology of the leaf epidermis: Fate specification, morphogenesis, and coordination

Daniel T. Zuch et al.

Summary: The epidermis, as the outermost layer of plants, plays a critical role in plant-environment interactions. Differentiation of specialized epidermal cell types occurs during leaf development, but how these cells coordinate as a unit is not well understood. This review highlights the regulatory mechanisms governing the fate, differentiation, and positioning of these specialized cell types, emphasizing their shared developmental origins, fate flexibility, and hormonal controls, while also discussing computational modeling approaches to integrate mechanical properties of individual epidermal cell types and tissue properties.

Effect of IgG Fc-fusion and KDEL-ER retention signal on prostate-specific antigen expression in plant and its immune in mice

Chunha Shin et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that fusing the PSA protein with the human immunoglobulin G crystallizable fragment and adding an ER retention signal tag allows for efficient expression of PSA protein in a plant expression system. The PSA-FcK protein exhibits the highest expression level among the three proteins in transgenic plants and can be successfully purified. PSA-FcK protein shows higher binding activity to Fcγ receptor I and induces anti-PSA response, suggesting its potential as a prostate cancer vaccine.

Uddhab Karki et al.

Summary: In vitro cultured plant cells, particularly the tobacco BY-2 cell, have shown promise as a bioproduction platform for therapeutic proteins. Despite progress in improving the plant cell culture system, challenges such as low productivity and non-human glycosylation remain. Modern molecular biology tools are being used to engineer plant cells for enhanced recombinant protein production.
