Entropic analysis of cilia-modulated slip flow of trimetallic nanofluid through electroosmotic corrugated pump in the presence of inclined magnetic field

Sufian Munawar et al.

Summary: To enhance the flow and heat transfer efficiency in micro/nanofluidic devices, it is necessary to eliminate thermal indulgence. The rapid transport and mixing of metallic colloidal suspensions at the nanoscale are crucial. This study investigates the role of a trimetallic nanofluid in a heated micropump, utilizing biomimetic motile cilia and external fields. The trimetallic nanofluid exhibits higher heat transfer efficiency, and the involvement of electroosmosis and thermal radiated contribute to reducing heat losses.

Generalized complex cilia tip modeled flow through an electroosmotic region

S. Ijaz et al.

Summary: In this study, a nanofluid model representing the role of ciliary carpets in magnetohydrodynamic fluid transport in an electroosmotic channel is explored, with consideration of hybrid nanofluid features. The flow analysis equations are converted into non-dimensional form under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations. Analytical solutions for velocity distribution, pressure gradient, and stream function are obtained and solved using a mathematical solver. The effects of relevant physical parameters are graphically illustrated. The findings of this model have significant applications in various areas such as biological transport processes, artificial cilia design, and operation of mechanical devices.

An entropy model for Carreau nanofluid ciliary flow with electroosmosis and thermal radiations: A numerical study

Khalid Abdulkhaliq M. Alharbi et al.

Summary: Nanofluids containing thermal radiation are used for drug delivery to localize heat production and drug activation. By limiting medication to healthy tissues, this approach enhances drug distribution. The effect of thermal radiation on a ternary-hybrid nanofluid composed of titanium oxide (TiO2), silica (SiO2), and aluminum oxide (AI(2)O(3)) is explored, considering both entropy and electroosmosis. The motion of cilia and elastic electroosmotic pumping contribute to the minimization of entropy and the improvement of thermodynamic efficiency. Heat transfer is proportional to the length of cilia, with large cilia increasing Nusselt number but reducing skin friction.

Entropy generation minimization EGM analysis of free convective hybrid nanofluid flow in a corrugated triangular annulus with a central triangular heater

Sufian Munawar et al.

Summary: Entropy production always accompanies heat transfer phenomena, leading to the destruction of available work and energy resources. This study focuses on minimizing valuable energy resources in convective heat transfer augmentation situations by reducing temperature differences and entropy generation. An optimal thermal design for augmented free convective situations is analyzed, considering a hybrid nanofluid flow in a corrugated triangular annulus heated by an underneath partial heater. Three approaches, including corrugated walls, inner heater at lower nonuniform temperature, and magnetic field effects, are applied to reduce entropy production. Numerical solutions are obtained using the finite element method, and the validity of the results is confirmed through comparison with previously published investigations. The study highlights the influential role of the thermal design in reducing entropy production, attributed to the higher thermal conductivity of the hybrid nanofluid. It is found that maintaining the inner triangular body at a temperature lower than the bottom heat source significantly reduces overall entropy, and corrugated walls minimize entropy more effectively than flat walls.

Summary: The thermal analysis of electroosmotic flow in a vertical ciliated tube with viscous dissipation and heat source is discussed, presenting three different cases of flow with varying effects. Exact solutions are calculated for velocity and temperature fields in the presence of heat source and buoyancy force, and by the Adomian decomposition method for the case of viscous dissipation. The mathematical model simplifies the equations and shows significant effects of electroosmosis on velocity and temperature profiles.

Ternary-hybrid nanofluids: significance of suction and dual-stretching on three-dimensional flow of water conveying nanoparticles with various shapes and densities

Thanaa Elnaqeeb et al.

Summary: The study focused on the transport phenomena of water conveying three types of nanoparticles in a rectangular closed domain, where an increase in suction and stretching ratio led to higher vertical velocity and Nusselt number, while decreasing fluid flow, temperature distribution, and local skin friction coefficients. Higher Nusselt numbers were observed in the case of water conveying Copper oxide, Copper, and Silver nanoparticles due to their heavy densities at all levels of suction and stretching ratio.

Micropolar fluid past a convectively heated surface embedded with nth order chemical reaction and heat source/sink

Summary: This article investigates the flow of an incompressible micropolar Prandtl fluid over a porous stretching sheet, incorporating effects such as exponential temperature-dependent heat source, higher-order chemical reaction viscous dissipation, nonlinear thermal radiation, and multiple convective surface boundary conditions. The nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) for momentum, energy, micro-rotation, and concentration are converted into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and solved using the nonlinear shooting method. Increasing the microrotation parameter enhances the angular velocity profile, higher order of reactivity increases the heat transmission rate, while mass convection enhances the concentration size, demonstrating potential applications in clean engine lubricants and coolant industrial liquids under the same constraints.
