Teaching in emergency remote classrooms: reflections for professional learning

Instructors' self-efficacy, perceived benefits, and challenges in transitioning to online learning

Summary: Based on social cognitive theory, this study investigated instructors' self-efficacy in online teaching during the sudden transition caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study examined their self-efficacy, perceived benefits, intention to implement online teaching strategies, and challenges encountered. The findings revealed that the affiliated universities, online learning quality, and previous use of learning management systems (LMS) significantly predicted instructors' online teaching self-efficacy. Furthermore, online teaching self-efficacy, gender, online learning quality, and professional training predicted the perceived benefits of online learning during emergencies. The study sheds light on instructors' self-efficacy and the positive outcomes of the shift to online teaching in higher education.

Examining K-12 teachers' feelings, experiences, and perspectives regarding online teaching during the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic

Major challenges faced by teachers included low student engagement, lack of technology access for students, concerns about student wellbeing, limited face-to-face interactions, work-life balance issues, and adapting to new technology. Teachers highlighted the importance of professional development, technology access, training, action plans, and communication in preparing for future emergencies, while also expressing uncertainty and concerns about the new normal post-COVID-19.

Perception of online teacher self-efficacy: A multi-state study of nursing faculty pivoting courses during COVID 19
