Summary: This study examined the differences between ten outlier exclusion methods in response time research, finding significant biases among the methods. Some methods exhibited high rates of Type-I errors and should not be used. Methods based on z-scores/standard deviations introduced small biases, while not excluding outliers resulted in the largest absolute bias.
