Performance Shaping Factor Dependency Assessment Based on International Civil Aviation Accident Report Data

Summary: This study used stepwise logistic regression analysis and mediating effect analysis to explore PSF dependencies based on 872 air accident report data. The results showed that among the 14 established PSF categories, five had significant impacts on crew error. Further analysis revealed significant mediating effects in 16 PSF combinations, but only 8 combinations should be considered in actual human reliability analysis (HRA) due to their indirect effects exceeding 20%. The study proposes an empirical method for identifying and assessing PSF dependencies, which can be used to develop or modify HRA methods in the civil aviation context and provide guidance for broader perspectives on human error risk prevention and mitigation beyond interface facets.
