Zingiber officinale attenuates neuroinflammation in LPS-stimulated mouse microglia by AKT/STAT3, MAPK, and NF-κB signaling

Suping Hao et al.

Summary: Ginger root ethanol extract has a protective effect on neuroinflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide in microglial cells. It inhibits the release of cytokines and inflammatory mediators, improves neuronal insults, and suppresses specific signaling pathways involved in neuroinflammatory responses.

Zingerone Inhibits the Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation and Protects against Sepsis via Nrf2-Mediated ROS Inhibition

Yingjie Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, the researchers found that treatment with zingerone reduced organ injury and improved the outcome in a cecal ligation puncture-induced polymicrobial sepsis model. Zingerone alleviated reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and systematic inflammation by inhibiting neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation. The results suggest that zingerone may be a novel therapeutic strategy against sepsis-induced injury.

Ginger Constituent 6-Shogaol Inhibits Inflammation- and Angiogenesis-Related Cell Functions in Primary Human Endothelial Cells

Iris Bischoff-Kont et al.

Summary: This study found that 6-shogaol has anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic effects in vascular endothelial cells. It can reduce the adhesion of leukocytes to activated endothelial cells and decrease cell migration. Additionally, 6-shogaol can block the expression of cell adhesion molecules and the activation of nuclear factor kappa B.

Pretreatment with 6-Gingerol Ameliorates Sepsis-Induced Immune Dysfunction by Regulating the Cytokine Balance and Reducing Lymphocyte Apoptosis

Seong-A Ju et al.

Summary: Sepsis is characterized by an initial hyperinflammatory response followed by immunosuppression, termed immunoparalysis. 6-Gingerol has shown potential in improving host response to infections during sepsis by modulating the balance of Th1/Th2 and regulating apoptosis of immune cells.

6-Shogaol Mitigates Sepsis-Associated Hepatic Injury through Transcriptional Regulation

Xiaoxuan Guo et al.

Summary: 6-Shogaol exhibited preventive effects on sepsis-induced liver injury by inhibiting inflammatory pathways and oxidative enzyme damage, as confirmed by transcriptomic analysis. Overlapping genes related to inflammation pathways were identified in different treatment groups, indicating the potential mechanism of action for 6-shogaol in treating liver disorders associated with sepsis.
