A deep learning method for continuous noninvasive blood pressure monitoring using photoplethysmography

Hao Liang et al.

Summary: The objective of this study is to estimate continuous blood pressure waveform from a plethysmography (PPG) signal, providing more cardiovascular status information than traditional cuff-based methods. The proposed method utilizes a convolution neural network for feature extraction to estimate blood pressure without waveform analysis and signal feature extraction. The results show that the network achieved mean absolute errors and standard deviations that meet the best levels of BHS and AAMI protocols for systolic BP, diastolic BP, and overall pressure waveform estimation.

Measuring psychosocial stress with heart rate variability-based methods in different health and age groups

Santtu M. Seipajarvi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of psychosocial stress on physiological and psychological stress responses in different age and health groups using heart rate and heart rate variability assessment. The study finds that the HRV-based stress index can be used to quantify physiological responses to psychosocial stress in various populations.

Wrist Photoplethysmography Signal Quality Assessment for Reliable Heart Rate Estimate and Morphological Analysis

Serena Moscato et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop two classifiers to identify PPG pulses suitable for heart rate estimation and morphological analysis. By collecting wrist PPG data and using machine learning algorithms for analysis, better classification performance was achieved compared to other algorithms. This is important for improving the reliability of PPG parameters and broadening their applicability in real-world contexts.

Reduced heart-rate variability and increased risk of hypertension-a prospective study of the ELSA-Brasil

Rosangela A. Hoshi et al.

Summary: The study found that low heart-rate variability is closely associated with the risk of future hypertension incidence. Even individuals with normal blood pressure may be at an increased risk for future hypertension if they have reduced cardiac autonomic control.
