MHD Mixed Convection of Non-Newtonian Bingham Nanofluid in a Wavy Enclosure with Temperature-Dependent Thermophysical Properties: A Sensitivity Analysis by Response Surface Methodology

Amzad Hossain et al.

Summary: In this study, the numerical investigation of magneto-hydrodynamic mixed convection flow and entropy formation of non-Newtonian Bingham fluid in a lid-driven wavy square cavity filled with nanofluid was conducted using the finite volume method (FVM). The results indicate that within the given parameter range, Reynolds number and nanoparticle volume fraction have a positive impact on the average Nusselt number (Nu over bar ), while Hartmann number and Bingham number have a negative impact on it. The entropy generation is also affected by these parameters.

Flow control of two tandem cylinders by a highly flexible filament: Lattice spring IB-LBM

B. Afra et al.

Summary: In this study, the combination of Lattice Spring Method (LSM) and Immersed Boundary-Lattice Boltzmann Method (IB-LBM) is employed to investigate fluid-elastic body interaction problems under unsteady conditions. The method eliminates the need for arbitrary spring parameters to determine the deformation of the flexible body. Numerical simulations are conducted to examine the effects of various variables on the lift and drag coefficients of tandem cylinders. The results show that the fluctuations of the lift coefficient are reduced when the filament's capillary number is at its maximum value and the filament's clamped edge is located in the middle of the cylinders. Additionally, increasing the filament's length results in a significant reduction in the drag coefficient on the downstream cylinder.

Magnetic field effects on natural convection and entropy generation of non-Newtonian fluids using multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann method

Aimon Rahman et al.

Summary: The study investigates the magnetic field effect on natural convection flow of power-law non-Newtonian fluid through numerical simulations, showing that the heat transfer rate is affected by the magnetic field while Rayleigh number and PL index have an impact on heat transfer as well. The research also explores the entropy generation of the fluid under different magnetic field conditions.

Multiple-Relaxation-Time Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of Magnetic Field Effect on Natural Convection of Non-Newtonian Nanofluid in Rectangular Enclosure

J. Quader Yuki et al.

Summary: This study investigates the magnetic field effects on natural convection of a non-Newtonian powerlaw nanofluid in a rectangular enclosure using GPU-accelerated MRT-LBM. The research focuses on the heat transfer characteristics and temperature distribution of nanofluids with different particle compositions within the enclosure. The results show that the heat transfer rate is enhanced for shear-thinning fluids under the influence of magnetic fields, while it is attenuated for shear-thickening fluids.

Summary: The article conducts lattice Boltzmann simulation of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) natural conjugate heat transfer in an apportioned cavity filled with multiwalled carbon nanotube/water nanofluid. Nanofluid properties are evaluated based on experimental correlations, investigating the effects of various parameters on heat transfer, entropy generation, and Bejan number. The results are found to be in agreement with previous numerical studies, showing how changes in parameters impact heat transfer and entropy generation.
