Z-scheme CoAl-layered double hydroxide/indium vanadate heterojunction for enhanced and highly selective photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide

Jingwen Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, Z-scheme CoAl-layered double hydroxide/indium vanadate heterojunction photocatalysts were synthesized and their performance in CO2 reduction was investigated. The results showed that the synthesized photocatalysts exhibited desired morphology, efficient charge separation and transfer, and the highest photocurrent response. The CoAl-LDH/InVO4-30 showed the highest CO yield within 2 hours of reaction, with nearly 100% selectivity. The intermediates and possible reduction pathways during the CO2 reduction process were also identified.

Tuning Local Charge Distribution in Multicomponent Covalent Organic Frameworks for Dramatically Enhanced Photocatalytic Uranium Extraction

Hui Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, an isoreticular family of multivariate COFs with chromenoquinoline rings and electron-donating or withdrawing groups were synthesized and used as photocatalysts. The intramolecular donor-acceptor interactions in the COFs enabled tuning of charge distribution and carrier separation, leading to improved photocatalytic performance. By optimizing the optoelectronic properties, a nitro-functionalized multicomponent COF achieved a photocatalytic uranium extraction efficiency of 8.02 mg/g/day in natural seawater, surpassing all previously reported COFs. These findings demonstrate an effective design strategy for high-activity COF photocatalysts with intramolecular D-A structures not easily accessible through traditional synthetic methods.

Achieving High-Efficient Photoelectrocatalytic Degradation of 4-Chlorophenol via Functional Reformation of Titanium-Oxo Clusters

Jing-Jing Liu et al.

Summary: In this work, three stable titanium-oxo clusters modified with different ligands were constructed. These clusters demonstrated tunable light-harvesting and charge transfer capacities, enabling efficient photoelectrocatalytic reactions. The cluster Ti12Fc2Ac4, modified with bifunctionalized ligands, showed better performance in the degradation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) and hydrogen generation compared to the other two clusters. This study not only presents an effective combination of organic pollutant degradation and hydrogen evolution reaction using crystalline coordination clusters but also introduces a new photoelectrocatalytic application for these compounds.

Heteroatom-Embedded Approach to Vinylene-Linked Covalent Organic Frameworks with Isoelectronic Structures for Photoredox Catalysis

Shuai Bi et al.

Summary: The researchers have successfully achieved a two-dimensional oxonium-embedded COF with vinylene linkages and converted it to a neutral pyridine-cored COF through ammonia treatment. These two heteroatom-embedded COFs, while featuring similar geometric structures, exhibit different electronic structures, and are capable of catalyzing multi-component synthesis with good recyclability.

Syntheses of ferrocene-functionalized indium-based metal-organic frameworks for third order nonlinear optical application

Rong Zhang et al.

Summary: We propose a rigid-flexible synergistic strategy for the syntheses of ferrocene-functionalized indium-based metal-organic frameworks (In-MOFs) through introducing rigid carboxylic acids as auxiliary ligands. The large cations are used to induce flexible 1,1 '-ferrocene dicarboxylic acid (H(2)FcDCA) in a controllable coordination mode to construct target frameworks. A series of In-MOFs based on the H(2)FcDCA ligand have been successfully synthesized using this strategy. The introduction of rigid OX2- ligands and large cation template leads to the syntheses of various In-MOFs with good third order nonlinear optical properties and redox activity.
