Faulty feeder detection for single phase-to-ground faults in distribution networks based on patch-to-patch CNN and feeder-to-feeder LSTM

Jiawei Yuan et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a fault feeder detection method based on a hybrid model of convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network, which comprehensively explores spatial-temporal information. Deep spatial features are extracted using CNN and further processed by LSTM network. In addition, the proposed patch-to-patch CNN (PToP CNN) recognizes current waveforms on the patch scale to maintain the temporal dependencies of the extracted spatial features. Furthermore, a feeder-to-feeder LSTM (FToF LSTM) network is established to learn and compare spatial-temporal correlations between feeders. The joint PToP-CNN and FToF-LSTM achieve collaborative superiority in mining fault features in zero-sequence currents. The efficiency of the proposed method is demonstrated through real-time detection on the embedded device NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier.

Wei Junqiang et al.

Summary: A new ultra-short-term wind power prediction method combining maximal information coefficient (MIC) with multi-task learning (MTL) and long short-term memory (LSTM) network is proposed. The method constructs the feature input sequence of the neural network based on the MIC correlation analysis results and optimizes the network parameters using grid search. The case study on a wind farm in the United States demonstrates that the proposed method achieves higher prediction accuracy compared to other existing methods.

μPMU-based islanding detection method in power distribution systems

Zahra Shafiei Chafi et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on using micro-phasor measurement units (mu PMUs) to promptly detect unplanned islanding conditions. The method involves monitoring voltage and current phasors at distributed generation (DG) buses equipped with mu PMUs. By calculating and summing up the differences between pre-disturbance and post-disturbance phasors, the island condition of the related bus is detected when it exceeds a predefined threshold. The proposed procedure can distinguish islanding conditions from other perturbations and has been analyzed on different distribution systems.

An Intelligent Deep Convolutional Neural Networks-Based Islanding Detection for Multi-DG Systems

Arif Hussain et al.

Summary: In this study, an intelligent islanding detection technique with zero non-detection zone for a hybrid distributed generation system is proposed. It utilizes short-term Fourier transform and convolutional neural networks to compute frequency spectrum variations over time. By monitoring and analyzing the three-phase voltage at the point of common coupling, and using a modified convolutional neural network, islanding and non-islanding occurrences can be detected accurately.
