Summary: We use numerical simulations based on a free-wake panel method to investigate the aerodynamics of a surging, heaving, and yawing wind turbine. Specifically, we focus on the UNAFLOW (UNsteady Aerodynamics of FLOating Wind turbines) case and achieve good agreement with experimental data for surge motion. Our simulations accurately reproduce experimentally verified effects of surging motion and extend the analysis to conditions that have not been simulated before. Overall, our work provides insights into the nonlinear aerodynamic effects of wind turbine motion.

Summary: This paper proposes a CFD/CAA-based approach to predict the aerodynamic performances and tonal/broadband noise radiation of low-Reynolds number propellers at engineering level. The numerical flow solution is obtained by using the LatticeBoltzmann/Very Large Eddy Simulation method, whereas far-field noise is computed through the FfowcsWilliams & Hawkings' acoustic analogy applied on the propeller surface. The results show that the method is robust and has low sensitivity to the trip location, making it suitable for industrial applications.

Summary: The goal of this paper is to demonstrate the predictive capabilities of the Lattice-Boltzmann/Very-Large-Eddy-Simulation CFD solver SIMULIA PowerFLOW (R) in simulating transitional flow past a small drone rotor blade. The results validate the new PowerFLOW VLES model in predicting boundary layer flow transitional phenomena and corresponding broadband trailing-edge noise radiation.

Summary: This study applies a Lattice-Boltzmann based solver to perform scale-resolving unsteady flow simulations on a full-scale helicopter main rotor in forward flight for the first time. The validation is conducted by comparing the simulation results with reference wind tunnel data, providing insights into aerodynamic and acoustic quantities for different rotor advance ratios. Additionally, digital helicopter noise certification is achieved by calculating the ground noise map for a helicopter in landing condition.

Summary: This experimental study investigates the aerodynamic interaction between distributed propellers in forward flight, finding that adjacent propellers can affect performance and cause variations in local loading on the propeller disk. The interaction also leads to different noise waveforms, but active control of the relative blade phase angles between propellers can effectively modify the directivity pattern of the system.

Summary: Experimental and numerical results of a low Reynolds number propeller are presented as a preliminary step towards defining a benchmark configuration for low Reynolds number propeller aeroacoustics. The study identifies the experimental and numerical challenges of the benchmark and the relevance of fundamental research questions related to transition and other low Reynolds number effects.
